Over The Moon Garden

Design problem

Create a Show Garden for the Northwest Flower & Garden Show, with the theme built around the Valentine’s Day weekend and ‘LOVE’. Design for drama in low light, using a built structure, hardscape, a variety of plants available in late winter, and employ a theme of shapes that coordinate to balance the composition.

Design Solutions

  1. Use a strong, timeless, celestial theme…the ‘Moon’

  2. Use circles to reinforce the Moon theme in the patio hardscape, path arc, water bowl and the Gazebo.

  3. Create a simple color palette of white/gold (to reflect the moon) and burgundy to symbolize love.

  4. Furnish the Gazebo with lush opulent furnishings, perfect for inspiring romance.

  5. Display a pair of Owls as a reminder of natures wisdom and strength.

  6. Use plant texture and plant architecture to reinforce the strong shapes in the hardscape and garden.
