Remembrance Garden

Design problem

Renovate the 25 year old garden.

  1. Restore function, beauty and ecological balance to the pond. Foster resident tree frogs.

  2. Level and restore footings to the existing hardwood pergola, stop erosion.

  3. Improve safety and circulation of pathways.

  4. Create visual order with existing sculpture, relics and 30+ containers on site.

  5. Create the feel of being in India.

  6. Bring peace and remembrance of family, traditions and spiritual values.

Design Solution

  1. Waterproof, redo pond cap, plumbing and bubbling pot. Add all new plants.

  2. Build retaining walls, drainage around pergola, build new footings, re-set floor.

  3. Build three sets of new garden steps, add lighting and custom railings, steel edging and new gravel.

  4. Create focal points down view corridors with existing containers, statue and stone relics. Use focal points for wayfinding.

  5. Design a planting plan with exotic looking multitextured foliage, dynamic blooms cycles and lots of color.

  6. Create drama by building architecture with plants around focal points.
