Capitol Hill Courtyard

Design problem

To create a pleasing garden from two perspectives, the kitchen and the deck dining area, while ensuring year-round interest and dynamic change. Make a path to the garage from the deck and a path into the garden.

Design Solutions

1. Create a non directional focal point similar to a water feature, but low maintenance.

2. Soften the walls by adding an arbor and tall plants.

3. Terrace with steel retaining.

4. Use a calm plant palatte to make the space feel relaxing and larger. Keep plants low and restrained.

5. Use a lot of evergreen plants for year round interest.
